Keir Starmer’s Coalition of the Willing

The other day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a plan to advocate for the creation of a coalition of the willing to send up to 10,000 European peacekeepers to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire.

The British Prime Minister, as well as French President Emmanual Macron, do not take kindly to the fact that President Trump is trying to communicate with President Putin in an attempt to end the war that started in 2022.

The two even went so far as to come to the United States later last month in an attempt to warm Trump up to the idea of providing his full-fledged support to Zelensky, even going so far as to give him an invitation from King Charles for a state visit.

This weeklong begging tour ended with Zelensky, Trump, and Vance having a near fight in the Oval Office and resulted in the minerals deal not being signed along with the cessation of American weapon shipments and intelligence to the country.

While some intelligence sharing has been restored after Zelensky apologized publicly, it is quite clear that Britain and France no longer see the United States as a reliable partner in their crusade against Russia. Why would they? They were so used to Biden giving a blank check for everything that Trump is a slap in the face.

Now that they have reached this conclusion, the Europeans, being led by Britain and France, have started making contingency plans for action in the event that the US leaves them hanging out to dry.

As per usual, what the Europeans come up with is the most bonkers idea that I’ve ever heard of. This guy wants 10,000 European peacekeepers sent to Ukraine, an active warzone, to enforce a ceasefire.

The problem with that is that a ceasefire is meant to be temporary and could break down at any moment, like what we are seeing in Gaza. Could you imagine what would happen if, God forbid, the hypothetical Ukrainian ceasefire went wrong and thousands of soldiers from various European nations were caught in a crossfire?

I know what would happen. Europe would invoke Article 5 and then attempt to drag the US into a quagmire that it started, ending all possibility of a lasting peace settlement. Then all bets are off as multiple nuclear armed nations end up shooting at each other.

In my view, President Trump needs to tighten the leash on Europe. If they are actively going to try and sabotage this peace process, then they need to feel the full weight of American influence that has held power over them since 1945.

The Europeans need to understand that up until this point, the US, despite being a superpower, has treated them as reliable partners. However, we can just as easily treat them as clients. Ukraine is already receiving the client treatment. That can be expanded to the UK, France, and Germany if need be.

War Hungry Europe

I don’t understand why the European powers are so desperate to kill themselves every so often. They tried to kill themselves twice in the 20th century, the first time wiping out an entire generation of European men and the second time resulting in Europe losing their colonial empires.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about this had we not developed bombs that could level entire cities in one blow, but I would still be concerned at the eagerness of people like Starmer and Macron who wish to plunge their people into a war that really doesn’t concern them.

Putin’s demands were reasonable. Do not expand NATO eastwards. Do not expand NATO into Ukraine. Why does NATO need to expand into Ukraine? NATO is at its most powerful position ever. The Warsaw Pact is gone.

Perhaps the European NATO members ought to clarify what the NATO alliance stands for. Is it an alliance for mutual defense of member states, or is it an alliance that is meant to contain and combat the Russian Federation? I am leaning towards the latter.

What Europe doesn’t understand is that the United States has no interest in combating Russia. Our spheres of influence do not naturally conflict. Russia does not have territorial ambitions or security concerns in the Americas.

Monsieur Z explains it well in his latest video, which I will link below.

If these divergences in policy between the US and Europe continue, then the logical conclusion will be the decoupling of America from Europe. That means an end to America’s obligations under the umbrella of NATO.

However, even that is a double-edged sword because as the leader of NATO the US has a sort of veto power over what Europe does militarily. A decoupling of the US from NATO, while in my view should happen, would open the door for Britain and France having the freedom to act recklessly.

While we wouldn’t be involved in this European conflict, we could still feel the effects, especially if the nukes start to fly. In all honesty, while I rag on Europe a lot, I do not want the European continent to be ravaged by nuclear warfare. I have family in Britain.

If worse comes to worst, I will advocate for regime change in Europe by covert means. The neoliberal governments that have ruled the Europeans since World War 2 have proven inept at keeping peace in their continent.

There have been cases of Europeans trying to change things democratically, but as we have seen in Romania, if you advocate for change and come in first place during the first round of voting, the government nulls the election and arrests you.

Sadly, even parts of the European right are still caught up in some sense of Cold War politics. I have even seen many European rightists call this conflict existential for Europe, the Ukrainians manning the gates against the Asiatic Russian horde.

Let me be clear: this entire ordeal sucks for Ukraine. I am not entirely unsympathetic towards their plight. I believe that many of their problems were caused by nefarious foreign actors in Europe and America that got their wish with the Euromaidan 2014 coup.

Nobody wants to be in Zelensky’s position, to be the guy who will probably oversee the partitioning of certain territorial losses from one’s own country.

There were many things that could have been done to avoid this situation, but sadly here we are, and we must do what we can to not make it worse. This warmongering by Keir Starmer helps nobody and certainly not Ukraine.

I say this to Europe: get out of the way, for all of our sakes.
